Best Fort Worth Neighborhoods for Families Relocating to DFW

The best Fort Worth neighborhoods for relocating families are the Near Southside for walkability, Aledo and Willow Park for acreage and top-rated schools, and Colleyville, Southlake, or Keller for master-planned communities with easy access to both Fort Worth and Dallas job centers. Which one fits depends on commute, school priorities, and how much land you want.

Near Southside: walkable, urban, no HOA acreage

Fort Worth's Near Southside sits just south of downtown and has become the city's most walkable neighborhood, with restaurants, coffee shops, and the medical district within a short walk or bike ride of most homes. It suits families who want an urban lifestyle without leaving Fort Worth, though lots are smaller than the western suburbs.

Aledo and Willow Park: acreage and top-rated schools

West of Fort Worth, Aledo and Willow Park offer significantly more land per dollar than the city core, along with the Aledo Independent School District, which regularly ranks among the top-rated districts in the Fort Worth area. This is the most common landing spot for families relocating specifically for space and schools.

Colleyville, Southlake, and Keller: master-planned and centrally located

These three northeast Tarrant County cities sit almost equidistant between Fort Worth and Dallas, which makes them popular with dual-commute households where one parent works in each direction. All three have master-planned subdivisions, strong public schools, and shorter drives to DFW Airport than most of Fort Worth proper.

How to choose

Start with your actual commute, not the neighborhood's reputation: a 20-minute difference in drive time matters more day to day than square footage. From there, school ratings and lot size usually narrow it down fast.
